The most dangerous way to use AI is to turn your brain off. Not because AI is wrong — it’s often right — but because the moment you stop thinking, you stop updating your mental model. And your mental model is the irreplaceable thing: the compounded result of every decision you’ve made, every experiment you’ve run, every failure you’ve absorbed. No AI can inherit it.

AI collapses the distance between a question and a deep answer. That’s not a reason to understand less — it’s a reason to understand more. The clearer you grasp a problem, the more you get out of every tool you point at it: you direct it precisely, you carry fewer unknowns, and you know exactly which unknowns are worth an experiment.

When implementation was expensive, decisions had to be made carefully — you gathered evidence for weeks before committing. That’s breaking down. When a prototype takes minutes and a domain can be synthesized in hours, the experiment becomes cheaper than the debate that was meant to replace it.
